About

Built by counters, for counters.

MICS — the Modular Inventory Counting System — is a hardware-only drop-in replacement for the discontinued AST and National Datacomputer inventory keypads that counting crews have relied on for decades. When the original manufacturers stopped supporting those devices, teams were left with aging hardware, no upgrade path, and no modern alternative that preserved the workflow they already knew. MICS was built to fill exactly that gap.

The unit pairs a remappable mechanical keypad with a chassis engineered for daily warehouse use, and connects to most Android and iOS smartphones via cable or Bluetooth. There is no proprietary software lock-in and no bundled app requirement — MICS works as a pure hardware replacement, so your existing counting software and workflow stay intact.

MICS is designed and assembled by Northwest Inventory Service, an operating inventory-counting company based in Boring, Oregon. Because we run counting crews ourselves, every design decision is driven by real field use rather than a spec sheet. We built MICS for our own teams first, and now offer it to other counting operations facing the same end-of-life hardware problem.
